Why Kilpatrick Land & Livestock
My name is Jonathan Kilpatrick. Since my early teenage years, I've been raising livestock. I'm passionate about raising healthy, happy animals in pasture-based, regenerative systems. Learning from, and working for, the best in the industry has allowed me the opportunity to continually grow my knowledge and skill-set. I love teaching and sharing my passion with others.
Agriculture is a biological system, an eco-system actually. Each farm is different. What works superbly for one person in one area may be a miserable failure for another in a different context. So, while an online course or YouTube video may give you some great ideas and starting blocks to work from, that type of content isn’t looking at your unique situation and helping you decide what is best for your farm.
We believe putting boots on the ground on your farm or ranch is so important. We believe that real progress and change towards regenerative agriculture is context and relationship driven.

About Jonathan
Growing up on an organic vegetable farm, Jonathan developed a love at a young age for agriculture. Early on, his passion specifically for livestock and grass-based farming became very evident, and in his teen years, he started a small business with several enterprises. His love for regenerative farming led to an internship and subsequent apprenticeship at Joel Salatin’s Polyface Farm. After graduating from that program, he continued his pursuit of hands-on experience and learning from the best. He ended up back home in the Northeast and managed a non-profit, educational farm for a couple years before marrying his wife, Miriam, whom he met at Polyface. Before starting Kilpatrick Land & Livestock, Jonathan managed a regenerative ranch that produced and retailed grass-fed and finished beef, lamb, and pasture-raised chicken. Jonathan is passionate about seeing agricultural businesses thrive through intentional management and systems development, grazing and grassland management, and producing clean, ethically-raised proteins for consumers. Jonathan has farmed and managed livestock on pasture in seven different states across the United States, giving him a broad perspective of the industry. He has a highly-driven teaching style that is creative, effective, and results focused. Jonathan is a father to three little farm boys and loves getting to raise them with an appreciation for agriculture.
